Welcome to Delta Omicron!

Welcome to Gamma Mu chapter of Delta Omicron online. We are the Professional Music Fraternity at Virginia Tech. Our purpose is to provide service in music at Virginia Tech and the surrounding community of Blacksburg.

About Delta Omicron and Gamma Mu

Delta Omicron was founded on September 6, 1909 at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Hazel Wilson Bowsman, Lorena Creamer McClure, and Mabel Dunn Hopkins were merely freshman when they organized this music fraternity. Delta Omicron is the only professional music fraternity founded by underclassmen, and therefore never denies freshmen from joining the organization.

Delta Omicron encourages the development of fellowship, character, and the appreciation of good music and performance. Members aspire to attain the highest level of musicianship possible. The organization also gives material aid to deserving students.

The Gamma Mu chapter of Delta Omicron was founded at Virginia Tech in the fall of 1989. We have grown from just 10 members! Gamma Mu is a co-ed fraternity which strives to foster musicianship in students. We also help the Virginia Tech Department of Music and community of Blacksburg with various service and fundraising projects.
