Service in the Community
As a music fraternity, Gamma Mu helps the Virginia Tech Department of Music with various service projects every semester. Some examples of past projects are helping with freshman music major auditions, polishing brass in the Squires' Recital Salon, building a percussion ramp, and tutoring. Every winter we have a concert at Warmhearth Retirement Village where we sing and play Christmas carols. These are just a few of the many things Delta Omicron does for the university and community.
Often Gamma Mu will hold a fundraiser to raise money for a music major scholarship. The scholarship will go to a New River Valley resident who will be majoring in music. Also, a benefit concert is held each semester for various charities. Some previous charities Gamma Mu has donated to are the Montgomery County Christmas store and the Humane Society.
